THE MUSEUM OF SCIENCE & INDUSTRY BRAIN FOOD COURT
Chicago, IL
The Museum of Science and Industry’s Food Services was looking to expand their seating area by taking over an abandoned 7,500 square foot overflow dining area and turning it into a whimsical multi-purpose food court.
SERVICES PROVIDED
Mechanical Ventilation and Air Conditioning
ENGINEERING HIGHLIGHTS
- Due to the structural constraints, limited space was available for overhead ductwork
- MEPC developed a plan to provide a dedicated outside air unit to supply ventilation air to the new space and individual fan coil units to provide mechanical cooling.
- Separate systems allowed for:
- Less overhead ductwork
- Zone controls
- An energy recovery wheel which recovered sensible and latent energy from the exhaust air to reduce energy costs.
