DAVID M. BROOKS, PE.
PRESIDENT, PARTNER
David Brooks brings over 30 years of mechanical engineering and project management experience to his role as President of McGuire Engineers. He leads business development, marketing, strategic planning, and staff development, driving organizational growth and delivering MEP engineering and consulting solutions to clients across diverse industries. David specializes in MEP infrastructure modernization, aligning complex project goals with sustainable, forward-thinking engineering solutions.
His deep expertise in major infrastructure renovations for museums, specialized environmental systems for archival and historic spaces, and higher education facilities has allowed McGuire Engineers to expand into new and specialized markets. By fostering strong, long-term client relationships, David ensures that even the most technically challenging projects are executed with efficiency and precision.
David’s portfolio features high-profile commercial HVAC modernization projects for world-class institutions, including the HVAC infrastructure modernization of The Field Museum and a comprehensive central cooling plant and air handling systems renovation for The Museum of Science and Industry.

MIKE MURPHY, LEED AP.
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, PARTNER, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR – MECHANICAL
Mike Murphy has been a valued member of the McGuire Engineers team for all 25-plus years of his mechanical engineering career. As Vice President and Senior Project Manager, he is an expert at understanding client expectations and translating them into thoughtful, efficient MEP design solutions.
Mike’s clear communication style enables him to identify clients’ needs, budget priorities, and operational goals — resulting in designs that are practical, cost-effective, and easy to operate. His direct, solution-focused approach to guiding clients through the MEP engineering design process produces results that are feasible, timely, and effective.
His design practice spans a variety of markets, with a particular focus on museums and academic institutions. Mike thrives on the unique challenges of institutional projects, which often require designs to fit within tight spaces, accommodate complex existing conditions, and be implemented while buildings remain open to the public. Committed to his clients from project conception through completion, his efficient and sustainable MEP designs bring enormous value to McGuire Engineers.

JOHN YOON, PE., LEED AP. ID+C
VICE PRESIDENT, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR - ELECRICAL
John Yoon brings over 30 years of electrical engineering experience in the design of electrical distribution systems, emergency systems, and lighting design. Since joining McGuire Engineers, he has served as both a principal and technical advisor, contributing to nearly every new project. John leads the firm’s electrical engineering practice, setting and maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and innovation. His professional experience ranges from high-rise building electrical design to mission-critical data centers and heavily regulated industrial projects.
As Vice President, John is well-versed in commercial electrical design and tenant improvement work, using his experience to meet client needs under tight timelines. He is valued for his ability to coordinate across disciplines, providing thoughtful solutions to complex MEP design challenges. Committed to every project from start to finish, John is a trusted partner to clients and team members alike.
His portfolio spans the commercial, educational, and high-rise residential markets. With a lifelong passion for learning, John is dedicated to delivering electrical engineering solutions informed by a comprehensive understanding of the discipline.

SERGIO CANO
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR – PLUMBING & FIRE PROTECTION
Sergio Cano brings over 30 years of experience as a senior plumbing and fire protection engineer, leading projects from early design through construction completion. He specializes in reviewing construction feasibility and addressing potential plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas challenges early in the design process, helping clients avoid unexpected costs down the line.
Sergio is skilled at coordinating across all project stakeholders, from code officials and building owners to architects and general contractors, identifying design issues before they become construction problems. His hands-on experience with construction administration ensures projects are executed smoothly from start to finish.
With a talent for solving complex building infrastructure challenges, Sergio has delivered plumbing and fire protection engineering solutions across a wide range of markets, including commercial, hospitality, corporate, and healthcare facilities. He brings a collaborative approach to every project, working closely with civil, structural, electrical, and MEP engineering teams throughout design and system layout.

RICHARD G. GONZALEZ
DIRECTOR OF COMMERCIAL INTERIORS, SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
Richard Gonzalez brings over 30 years of plumbing and fire protection engineering expertise to his role at McGuire Engineers. Since joining the firm in 1996, he has served as a lead designer, seasoned project manager, and Director of Tenant Improvement. Richard takes a holistic approach to each project, ensuring that plumbing and fire protection designs are fully integrated across all engineering disciplines.
Richard leads by example, maintaining a consistent, high-quality design standard across his team. His leadership style encourages individual input and active collaboration, giving each team member the autonomy to contribute meaningfully to the design process.
His professional experience spans a wide range of markets, including commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. Richard places great importance on clear, effective communication, working directly with clients throughout every phase of a project. Dedicated to seeing each project through to client satisfaction, he is known for being easy to work with and delivering first-class plumbing and fire protection engineering results.
