David Brooks brings over 30 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems and management of engineering projects. As President, he is actively involved in business development and marketing, while also leading key firm initiatives such as staff development and strategic planning.

David’s expertise in coordinating major infrastructure renovations for museums, specialized environmental systems for archival and historic spaces, and higher education facilities has allowed McGuire Engineers to expand into new and specialized markets. With a strategic mindset and a collaborative approach, David helps clients align project goals with practical engineering solutions.

David maintains strong client relationships over long-term projects, delivering creative solutions to complex problems. He led the major HVAC infrastructure modernization of The Field Museum and managed The Museum of Science and Industry’s central cooling plant and air handling systems renovation.

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, PARTNER, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR – MECHANICAL

Michael Murphy has been a valued member of the McGuire team for all 25 plus years of his mechanical engineering career. As Vice President and a Senior Project Manager, he is an expert at understanding client expectations and translating them into thoughtful, efficient design solutions.

His clear communication style enables him to identify clients’ needs, budget priorities, and operational goals, resulting in designs that are practical, cost-effective, and easy to operate. Michael’s direct, solution-focused approach to guiding clients through the engineering design process produces results that are feasible, timely, and effective.

Michael’s design practice includes experience in a variety of markets, with a focus on museums and academic institutions. He thrives on the unique challenges of institutional projects, which often require designs to fit within tight spaces, accommodate complex existing conditions, and are implemented while the buildings remain open to the public. Committed to his clients from project conception through completion, Mike’s efficient and sustainable designs bring enormous value to McGuire Engineers.

John Song is a talented mechanical engineer and project coordinator who specializes in HVAC and hydronic system design and is committed to maximizing energy efficiency and long-term sustainability. Since joining MEPC in 2012, he has become a key leader in the firm, bringing technical expertise, collaborative spirit, and commitment to delivering high-performance, energy-efficient systems.

As Vice President, John leads with curiosity and a strong commitment to continuous improvement, a hands-on approach to fosters trust among clients and colleagues. He brings a deep understanding of both engineering and product application, shaped by his early career as an application engineer for a mission-critical equipment manufacturer. His experience with the product side of engineering has helped him develop first-class communication skills and a deep understanding of the full sales cycle.

His portfolio includes designs for the commercial market, educational, and high-rise residential buildings. With a lifelong passion for learning, John is dedicated to designing solutions informed by a comprehensive understanding of mechanical design.
