John Yoon earns Florida P.E. license

John Yoon recently was awarded Professional Engineer licensure in the State of Florida. With this addition, McGuire Engineers holds licenses in 23 states plus the District of Columbia.
Bill Stangeland to judge CBC Merit Awards

Bill Stangeland will serve as a judge in the
Chicago Building Congress 2007 Merit Awards. Thirty-five construction projects in four categories are being considered to receive the awards, to be presented at a May 16 ceremony.
MEPC recognized by Cristo Rey High School

McGuire Engineers was presented with an artwork in recognition of ten years of support of
Cristo Rey High School. Throughout those years, we have provided financiual support, employed Cristo Rey students in the school's work-study program, and designed MEP systems for a building addition.
MEPC to receive Excellence in Engineering Award for Collections Resource Center

MEPC has been selected by the
Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) to receive an Excellence in Engineering Award for engineering efforts on
The Field Museum's Collections Resource Center. The project is a two-story below-ground addition to the Museum's existing facility containing specimen storage and laboratories. Precise environmental controls were required, as were special safety systems to allow storage of alcohol-preserved biological specimens underground. The award will be presented at ASHRAE's March meeting.
LaSalle TIF Approved

Chicago City Council today approved the creation of the LaSalle Central Redevelopment Area, a tax-increment financing (TIF) district. Once approved by the mayor, $550 million will become available for redevelopment of old buildings in and around the LaSalle Street corridor.

The latest addition to the McGuire Engineers team is Val Petersons, a plumbing and fire protection engineer with more than 30 years experience. Prior to joining MEPC, Val worked on a wide variety of projects, from high-rises to the Lincoln Park Zoo Ape House.

The Field Museum CRC Opens

The new Collections Resource Center at
The Field Museum in Chicago is now in operation. The new addition to the Museum's historic building contains nearly a quarter-million square feet of underground space dedicated to research, conservation, education, and artifacts storage.
