Twenhofel Middle School

Twenhofel Middle School
Independence, KY

Located just outside of Cincinnati, Twenhofel Middle School is a 112,000 square-foot facility that opened in January 2006 and accommodates 900 students. The school was designed to obtain a LEED Silver rating through the use of a number of sustainable features.

While the school was featured in the ASHRAE’S Advanced Energy Design Guide for K-12 School Buildings, the building has had trouble maintaining temperature in cold weather. The building uses an efficient ground water source heat pump system for heating and cooling.
