Therapeutic Proteins, Inc. (TPI) is a manufacturer of biological drugs who developed the world’s first single-use systems to manufacture recombinant proteins at a low cost. Moving from its Deerfield headquarters, TPI retained McGuire Engineers (MEPC) to assist in the development of its new research and development facility located at the University Technology Park at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).

Clean Room MEP Design


ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS


  • The engineering design services for the new 13,000 square-foot manufacturing plant was divided into two phases consisting of labs, class 10,000 and class 100,000 clean rooms, and general offices

  • MEPC designed a new tenant AHU systems, utilizing the steam and chilled water provided from IIT’s central plant

  • MEPC integrated refrigerant equipment to maintain specific rooms at 55 degrees

  • It also incorporated specialty HVAC design for all clean rooms based on particular levels including:

    • New VAV venture boxes and control system

    • Air handling unit

    • Filtration systems

    • Lab hoods

    • Rooftop mounted lab exhaust fans
