Located next to the historical 1803 Fort Osage, this recently-constructed 15,000 square-foot, two-story building is a museum, artifact conservatory space, and meeting center for Lewis and Clark artifacts. Jackson County retained McGuire Engineers (MEPC) to make modifications and improvements to the building’s system, while maintaining the sustainability goals of the county.

ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS


  • An efficient, ground water source heat pump system heats and cools the building’s floors and ceilings.

  • A 100% outside air unit with an energy recovery wheel provides ventilation.

  • Conducted an analysis of the weather to compare the temperature and relative humidity inside the space for the preservation of irreplaceable artifacts.

  • Made recommendations regarding operations and equipment modifications to ensure efficient operations and artifact preservation.
